True current stats
Name not in the list? Only already registered users are allowed. If you have previously registered but your name has disappeared, please see the note on the main page explaining why.
This tool gives a true current reflection of your top artist and weekly top artist stats, updated regularly instead of every 2-5 days like the official Last.fm top artists. The tool uses a database to tabulate stats. Every 10 minutes, a script is run. For each registered user, it first checks to see if any new official top artist stats have been posted. If they have, all tabulated stats are abandoned and these new stats are used. Otherwise, the previously calculated stats are used. It then looks at your 10 most recent tracks. Any tracks that are new since the last time the script was run are added to the totals. This page simply shows the current calculated stats from the database, alongside the last officially posted top artists stats for comparison. Weekly stats are reset whenever a new Last.fm week ticks over (12 midday each Sunday), and accumulates artist totals as they are played during the week.
You must remain an active user. If you do not access your stats at least weekly, then your stats will cease to be tabulated until you next access the tool.
Notes: I cannot guarantee the precise accuracy of these calculated stats, but I hope they are helpful for you. Many things can contribute to the accuracy of the stats:
- The script starts calculating your stats from when you register. Any tracks scrobbled between the time the last official top artists list is posted and the time you register will not be recorded.
- The script runs once every 10 minutes, and it can only access your last 10 scrobbled tracks. Therefore, if you listened to > 10 songs in the last 10 minutes, some may be missed.
- If this web server goes down at any time, all tracks scrobbled while it is down will be missed except the last 10.
- The script only takes notice of the artists in your top 50. Even if you listen to an artist enough to make it register on the top 50 when previously it hasn't, it still won't show until the officially posted top artists list includes the artist.
- When your machine goes offline, it may cache scrobbled tracks in the official Last.fm client. When your system comes online again, the tracks will be scrobbled all at once, so if there were any more than 10 tracks awaiting scrobbling, they will be missed as only the 10 most recent tracks can be viewed.
- The script isn't perfect ;-)) Please report any problems you find, I'd like to make it as reliable as possible.
